You'll also need a blender, a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, and a large bowl. If you don't have a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, you can use a fine-mesh strainer.

1. Soak the oats: Start by soaking the rolled oats in 4 cups of filtered water for at least 30 minutes. This will help to soften the oats and make them easier to blend.

2. Blend the oats: After the oats have soaked, drain and rinse them. Then add them to a blender with 4 cups of filtered water, salt, sweetener, and vanilla extract if using. Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

3. Strain the milk: Next, pour the oat milk mixture into a nut milk bag or cheesecloth placed over a large bowl. Gently squeeze the bag or cloth to extract as much liquid as possible. You should be left with a thick pulp that you can discard or use in baking or cooking.

4. Store the milk: Transfer the oat milk to a jar or bottle with a lid and refrigerate it for up to 5 days. Give it a good shake before using it as it may separate in the fridge.

1. You can adjust the sweetness of your oat milk by adding more or less sweetener to taste.

2. If you prefer a creamier milk, you can use less water when blending the oats. Start with 3 cups of water and add more as needed.

3. For a flavored oat milk, you can add cocoa powder, matcha powder, or spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to the blender.

1. Homemade oat milk is a healthier alternative to store-bought milk. Unlike most commercial oat milks, homemade oat milk does not contain any added oils, preservatives, or sweeteners. Additionally, it is a great source of fiber, protein, and other essential nutrients.

2. Oats are high in beta-glucans, which are a type of soluble fiber that can help to lower cholesterol levels, regulate blood sugar, and promote healthy digestion. They are also a good source of protein, containing all nine essential amino acids.

3. Oat milk is also a great option for those with food allergies or intolerances. It is naturally free from dairy, soy, and nuts, making it a safe choice for people with these allergies.
